Not sure I fully understand what this is so doing my best to figure out what it should look like. Could it look like BB-8 (but of course not be) and follow her around? Or be something added to her staff?
History and Personality:
History: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rey
Left on Jakku by family unseen at a young age, Rei grew up as a scavenger, learning hard that nothing was given to anyone for free. She worked hard for everything, including her own survival, and things we might take for granted were stories that she never quite believed.
And then Finn. Finn and BB-8 came into her life and changed it. Before she knew it she was on the run from the First order in a ship she found out was the famous Millennium Falcon. She found this out when she met Han Solo. Yes, the Han Solo. They bonded over ships during a daring escape, and he showed her her first view of woodlands and broad expanses of water.
Finn left her, tried to get her to come with him, but when she said they had to stand and fight the First Order... he left. She was then drawn to the basements, where she found Luke's Lightsaber and experienced a montage of visions that terrified her. She ran, but when she realized BB-8 had followed, she tried to go back, to do the right thing. Which was when she was captured.
Kylo Ren tried to use the Force to get into her head, but as was said in Doctor Who "A door once opened, can be stepped through in either direction." She managed to unnerve Ren enough that he left. Calming her mind she was able to get Storm Trooper JB-007 to set her free, drop his weapon, and leave, using the Force.
The self-rescuing princess took the weapon and found herself a place to hide. She tried to steal a ship to escape, but before she could, she found and was found by Han, Chewie, and Finn. He had come back for her. First time in her life... someone had come back for her. Han and Chewie had come to find her, Finn had come back for her.
And then she watched Han die. Watched Finn almost die. And she lost it. Lost her temper, and had a truly epic battle with the Lightsaber against Ren. She and he each got rescued by their own sides, and Chewie and the pilots helped her get Finn to medical help. She bonded for a moment with Leia, over the loss of Han, but felt out of sorts there... with everyone expecting so much from her when no one had ever expected anything before.
Personality:
Rei is a self-sufficient self saving princess. At least.. she is a self-saving princess. Without being a princess. She used to be self-sufficient. She spent most of her life waiting for a family that she knew deep in her heart would never return for her. She learned to scavenge, to fly, to trade, to keep herself from starving. She kept herself alive, refusing to leave Jakku, in case they returned. But when someone needed her help, when she thought that all that was good in the worlds needed her help... she went to help.
Despite being an adult, in many ways, Rei is a fledgling, is still a child. She has a wonder when she discovers things she thought were only stories (her first view of the forest from above, finding out who Han was, ectra). She feels her emotions strongly, more strongly perhaps than the Jedi Masters of old would have approved of, and she feels and acknowledges the whole range of them. Wonder, joy, hope, loyalty, fury, rage, sorrow.
But for as young as she can seem, she is also terribly mature at times. She knows what needs to be done, and if she feels what she feels, she doesn't let it stop her. She may want to run away, but when she knows that she just can't...that she is needed, she goes back. She is terrified frequently, but she keeps doing what she has to do. When she falters or falls, she gets back up. She wants to be a young woman learning the world, but she understands that the world sometimes needs her to be a warrior to defend it. She's learning how, and only hopes she can learn fast enough to save the people she loves. She can't stand the thought of losing anyone else...

First Person/Action brackets:
[She frowned at the room she found herself in, so confused. Where was she? What was this place?]
"Hello? Is anyone out there?"
[She had no clue anything was recording as she spoke, and thus never made eye contact. Not even the once.]
